jeremiah johnson's*
our dead famalies sacrificed on the altar of our little gods
up high on the mountain
where we can carve out a way of doing things
that fits our ethics
up where the air is thin
our minds can die strange deaths
alone in cabins sending
out bombs
your words half prayer a brother will notice
and offer help

*Jeremiah Johnson; Robert Redford rocking, baby-man, rocking.... a movie from the book Mountain Men.... They are both incredible, yet very different... as well it should be. They are about men who leave civilization to live by their own codes, and the convenants of course of the local royalty, native americans. This movie tells the story of the best of the white american soul. There were plenty of people who fought for native americans besides themselves, they just lost and the winner's wrote the histories.
Just like there were plenty of good crusaders who loved their hosts in the middle east....
& NOW we are back. . . . NOW we intend to right all thw wrong that the future can afford.
** The unabomber, who sent pipebombs to computer folk, who he thought were going to destroy the natural world, was finally caught when his brother saw an essay by the unabomber in the NYT and was horrified to see his lost, crippled brother staring out at him from the words. The unambomber and his brother were Math Prof.'s -- one of the last positions in this country truly looked at with awe by people (no one thinks they get math, though if they didn't their lives would fall apart -- experts in our weakest fields are too easily lionized every time... that is the problem with all this new computer innovation; people are becoming icons without earning the right).
