all telling whoppers from the almighty to the minute
liars by nature
hypocrites all
blinded by protective walls
we sit nervously waiting for that old axe to fall
or some lie of a god to appear with a 'poof' & fix it all
the politicians fight lies with lies
giving everyone a side to despise
the truth comes round
ensconced in lies that bind her feet and cut off her clit
we see her in fun house mirrors
distorted into a giant or a mouse
a slut or a mother
depending on our delusion du jour
lies for fun and profit
lies to avoid disdain
lies to hide ourselves away
like some meth snorting
gay sexing
fundamentalist republican preacher
We're the manifest of fever dreams
& of course there's a minister for every extreme
practiced in how to hypnotize
to help us feel that sensation of 'belief' for awhile
until death or divorce or a drunken nights drive
strips you of your daily lies
